1-Year Anniversary and Membership Update
July 03, 2014
Believe it or not we are approaching the one year anniversary of the Conshohocken Dog Park opening. Over the first year the dog park committee faced a number of challenges and learned a great deal in the process. One of the positive outcomes is that we have been able to foster a closer relationship with the Conshohocken Borough Council. With their help we have been able to address the issue of leaking pipes under the park and have arranged for regular lawn maintenance. Things are moving in a positive direction and we are looking forward to a number of exciting improvements in the future.
We’d like to update you on a number of upcoming events and inform you about the membership renewal process.
1. Access to the dog park: As you are aware the intended key fob access method never took root. There were a number of technical obstacles that were behind this and after careful review we have decided to pursue what we believe will be a better method for access control. Instead of the key fob system you may have noticed that a keypad has been installed at both openings of the park. You will be provided a four-digit code to access the space. Once a year as part of the membership renewal process, or as needed, we will be changing the code. You will receive the current access code via email in the coming week. The access keypad will be activated on Saturday July 12th. Obviously, once the keypad is activated, membership becomes a much more important factor for dog park access.
2. Changes in the membership process: The first change is that we are pushing the yearly membership cycle to start April 1st through March 31st. As a thank you to our first year members we are extending your first year membership through March 31, 2015. Early next year you will receive details on renewing your membership. The second change is that we will be increasing the membership fee to $20 a person for the year. As originally planned, the maintenance and care of the park will be completely supported by its members; in order to cover the financial costs associated with lawn care, trash disposal, poop bags and general maintenance we have decided this is necessary. Excess funds will be used to contribute to a number of other exciting initiatives that we have planned for year two of the dog park opening. The most notable is that we plan to install pavers in the entranceway between the two park sections in order to ease access year round.
3. Celebration of the Conshohocken Dog Park one-year anniversary. We will setup a tent outside of the park on Saturday, July 12th from 4-7pm. We will be available to accept new membership applications, sell CDP t-shirts and answer your questions. Please come on by and help us celebrate the Conshohocken Dog Park version 2.0.
